Product Care
A little love goes a long way
We’ve had customers tell us they’ve been wearing their Johnnie Team bikinis for years, and they still look just as good. The secret? Taking proper care of them.
Our bikinis are handmade using high quality materials, including delicate finishes like metallics, so proper care is essential. With the right care, they'll stay looking amazing wear after wear. Here's how to make them last.
After Every Use
Always rinse your bikini with cold water right after use, especially if you’ve been in salt water or a chlorinated pool. Hand wash only, no machines. If you want to use soap, go with a clear, gentle detergent made for delicate fabrics. To dry, gently press the water out with your hands. Don’t twist or wring it out, that can stretch or damage the fabric.
Things to Avoid
Do not put your bikini in the washing machine or dryer. The heat and agitation can ruin the fabric and break down the stitching. Stay away from hot water, bleach, and strong detergents, which can fade the color and weaken the material. Never iron your bikini or leave it near heat sources, such as heaters or the inside of a hot car.
Drying Tips
Lay your bikini flat on a clean towel and let it air dry in a shaded area. Hanging it from the straps can cause stretching, so it’s best to keep it flat. Try not to dry it under direct sunlight for too long, especially if it’s a metallic or brightly colored style. Too much sun can cause fading or dull the shine.
Caring for Metallics Fabrics
Some of our styles are made with metallic fabrics or special finishes that need a little extra care. These bikinis are meant to turn heads, but they are more delicate than standard swimwear. Wash them separately when you can, and avoid rough surfaces like pool edges, wood, or rocks that could scratch or snag the fabric.
How to Store Your Bikini
Make sure your bikini is completely dry before storing it. Keep it flat in a cool and dry place. Avoid folding or bunching it up while it’s still damp, especially in bags or tight spaces. Let it breathe and stay fresh between uses.
Extra Tips
Put your bikini on when your skin is clean and dry, before applying lotion or oils. Always rinse after swimming to help protect the fabric from salt and chlorine. If you own a few bikinis, it helps to rotate them so each one gets time to rest between wears. That’s the best way to make them last even longer.
